I'll nominate one of my own films, Local Hero.
Why; because I'd be in a position to explain the political, environmental and social rationale of the film better than anything that I hadn't had a hand in creating.
It's also the case that the underlying environmental/energy exploration theme of the film is more relevant than ever. The film offers a wonderful opportunity to dwell on what we risk giving up in exchange for 'progress'.
It requires a (rich) obsessive to bring us to our senses!
