Gurinder Chadha is a film director who began her career making documentaries for the BBC, and in 1989 released "I'm British but…" for Channel Four. She has been recognised for her ground breaking work telling the stories of second generation Asian communities in the UK, with films like Bhaji on the Beach (1993) and the 2002 breakout hit Bend it Like Beckham.
