Gritty drama about the world of high school football.
Friday Night Lights. Peter Berg's gritty sports-drama is a masterclass in commercial storytelling and boasts one of the great scores in contemporary cinema. Of all my favourite films, I feel this one is the least appreciated, particularly in the UK where it came and went in its theatrical run. I highly recommend it to those who haven't seen it from this generation or any other.

The exciting new voices in British cinema - Shane Meadows, John Crowley, Kevin McDonald, to name just a few. Filmmakers who consistently create work that doesn't feel compromised or dishonest.
