Stephen Frears is an English film director who first rose to prominence through his adaptation of the Hanif Kureishi screenplay My Beautiful Launderette (1985) for Channel Four. This led to many feature film offers and he has since directed award winning films in Britain and American including Dangerous Liaisons (1988), High Fidelity (2000) and The Queen (2006).
