BFI Neighbourhood Cinema

BFI Neighbourhood Cinema helps people create a cinema experience in their local community venue.

BFI Neighbourhood Cinema and Film Audience Network are strands of Film Forever, the BFI’s plan for 2012-2017.

There are many people in the UK who can’t regularly go to the cinema. This may be due to social or economic circumstances, or simply because their nearest cinema is too far away.

A central objective of Film Forever is boosting audience choice across the UK. BFI Neighbourhood Cinema will award up to £2m over the next four years, bringing new film experiences to communities across the UK, no matter where they live.

An online platform will launch in August 2014, supporting existing community cinemas and encouraging new ones to get up and running.

A beta version of the BFI Neighbourhood Cinema website will be available at the end of August. Please check back here for details.
