BFI Neighbourhood Cinema: Equipment Fund

We want everyone in the UK to be able to access a cinema experience regardless of their geographic or social circumstances.

At the BFI we recognise that it can be difficult to cover all the costs associated with showing films in community venues and would like to help by providing equipment to established not-for-profit community cinemas.

Venues who can demonstrate sufficient levels of existing activity with a British and specialised film programme can apply for equipment such as screens, projectors, Blu-ray players, sound equipment, chairs and blackout blinds. This fund will only supply specified equipment and does not currently offer cash grants for other types of equipment or for equipment from other suppliers.

We are now coming to the end of the BFI Film Forever Strategy, and this will be the final round of the Equipment Fund. To encourage inclusivity we are including ‘Mobile Connect’ in our last round, which is a live-streaming solution that provides users with audio description and hearing support on their own smartphones.

Please ensure that you have read the Guidelines for Applicants before making an application to the Fund.

Closing date for applications is 16 January 2017
