On 1 January 2014 Creative Europe replaced the former MEDIA and Culture programmes as the European Union’s funding programme for the creative, cultural and audiovisual sectors.

Creative Europe is a new European Union funding programme, which unites the previous MEDIA and Culture programmes. It has a budget of €1.46 billion for 2014-2020 and will help tens of thousands of professionals and organisations in film, TV, games, publishing, music, heritage and the performing and visual arts.

Support for the audiovisual industry is provided through Creative Europe’s MEDIA sub-programme, which has funding schemes for independent producers, theatrical and digital distributors, cinema owners, training providers and organisers of festivals, markets and events.

Each funding scheme has its own set of guidelines and application forms, known as a call for proposal. Calls for proposal are published throughout a year and have different deadlines: full list of open calls.
