HRH Crown Princess Mary of Denmark launches FILM-X

On 29 June the press team and the Danish Film Institute launched FILM-X on the Road - a new innovative mobile film studio for kids at BFI Southbank - to an array of local school children, press, movers and shakers and the HRH Crown Princess Mary of Denmark and Brian Mikkelsen, the Danish Minister of Culture.

FILM-X on the Road is car which doubles up as a film studio. Big enough to four people, children get the chance to shoot, direct, act and edit their own movie, all within two hours. With guidance, kids film themselves in the front seats against a backdrop of four different themed films – projected onto the rear windscreen – from which they can develop their own story and let their creativity run wild. The project was originally pioneered in Copenhagen in 2002 by the Danish Film Institute, where it’s been a great success.

FILM-X on the Road will be in the main foyer of BFI Southbank, 24 June – 20 August, and is free for young people and children to use over the summer – offering a fun, creative and quick way to make films.
