The Philharmonia Orchestra’s Voices of Revolution: Russia 1917 series opens with a live screening of Sergei Eisenstein’s Battleship Potemkin (1925).
Depicting the iconic story of mutiny in the Imperial navy, Eisenstein’s silent classic is a masterpiece of Soviet film-making and propaganda. A highly influential cinematic landmark, its most dramatic sequence is one of the most famous in cinema history: the massacre at the Odessa Steps.
Accompanying the film for one night only, acclaimed musician Vladimir Ashkenazy conducts the Philharmonia in a special arrangement of music from the symphonies of Dmitri Shostakovich.
To book, call the Philharmonia Box Office (Mon-Fri, 09:30-17:30) on 0800 652 6717. Tickets are priced from £15-£65.
