Curator, 20th century fiction
Josephine Botting joined the BFI in 1998 after working for Reuters and other moving image archives. As a curator in the fiction team, she has programmed many archive seasons at BFI Southbank as well as contributing to Sight and Sound and the BFI’s online and digital platforms. She has written chapters for the BFI’s recent books on Alfred Hitchcock and Ealing Studios and does interviews on radio and television about various aspects of film history.
Josephine has a general interest in British cinema, particularly the representation and involvement of women. Outside the BFI, she has written for various publications, mainly on the subject of horror cinema, which was the topic of her MA, and is currently doing a PhD on British director Adrian Brunel.
