Tabitha Austin

Tabitha is the Paper Conservator for the Heritage 2022 project. She works between the BFI’s Library and Special Collections to carry out an audit of early cinema journals and pressbooks for the ultimate goal of wider access and digitisation. Additionally, she supports development and integration of preservation and conservation policies and procedures into the workflow of both departments.

Tabitha has an MA in paper conservation and has worked in cultural institutions such as the Oklahoma Contemporary Arts Center, Tate Britain, Wellcome Collection, and the Notarial Archives in New Orleans in addition to private conservation practice. She is most interested in modern and contemporary materials.
