A French family lives in colonial Cameroon; the daughter, France, befriends a Cameroon native who is their servant. The story is told through France’s eyes, as she notices the houseboy and the sexual tension between him and her mother. As France and her mother try to move beyond the established boundaries between themselves and the native Africans, desires are forced to the surface and tension reigns.
