Destry Rides Again
Dir. George Marshall
USA 1939 | Black & white | 94 mins | Western
Cast: Marlene Dietrich, James Stewart, Misha Auer
When the corrupt mayor of Bottleneck makes drunkard Washington Dimsdale (Charles Winninger) the sheriff in the hope he will be easy to control, he counts against his idealistic deputy, Tom Destry Jr (Stewart). Unlike his father Destry Sr, Tom does not use his guns to solve his problems, instead relying on words to tame the outlaws. Assisted by bar singer Frenchy (Dietrich) he attempts to clean up Bottleneck, and bring the evil Kent (Brian Donlevy) to justice.
