Vincent, a humdrum government minister, is ousted by street protests and loses his perks, plush residence and costly mistress. He returns home to his flat in the populist quarter where he grew up, renews contact with his mother, is reintroduced to the simple joys of social drinking and in the process finds a new lease on life.
