Norman…Is That You?
Dir. George Schlatter
US 1976 | Colour | 92 mins | Comedy | Hollywood Classics
Cast: Redd Foxx, Pearl Bailey, Dennis Duggan, Michael Warren
Norman, a young, gay window-dresser, suddenly finds his father on his doorstep and his limp-wristed boyfriend in his bed. Considered by some to be the nadir of MGM’s mid-70s output, Norman is remarkable for featuring an unapologetically gay, black protagonist and for the most garishly kitsch apartment to appear on screen before Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown. For connoisseurs of low budgets, poor continuity, bad scripts and dire acting, Norman is definitely one of the great, unseen camp classics!
