Hal Hartley is an American film director, writer and pioneer of the independent film movement. Trust is a comedy in which a young girl gets pregnant and learns to take care of herself with the help of a fellow family outcast. Flirt tells the story of five disparate characters in Berlin, New York and Tokyo. In Henry Fool a shy garbage man reinvents himself though poetry and philosophy and in doing so completely changes his life. In The Girl form Monday a beautiful alien woman seeks to overthrow the system from within when she lands in an America run by a corporate dictatorship.
