Time and Winds

Life in a remote Anatolian mountain village is sedately yet passionately explored in Erdem’s gloriously shot paean to childhood. The villagers are simple but diligent people who struggle to cope with life’s harsh nature. They live according to the rhythm of the earth, day and night, the seasons and the call to prayer that divides the days into five parts. Time and Winds tells the story of three 12-year-old friends who grow up in the village in very different ways. One fantasises about getting rid of his strict father, the local Imam. One is in love with his teacher, and another faces the trials of having to help with the upbringing of his baby brother.
