Women Without Men

Acclaimed artist Shirin Neshat makes her directorial debut with this incisive and sumptuously filmed reflection on a pivotal moment in Iranian history. Women Without Men chronicles the intertwining lives of four Iranian women during the summer of 1953, the cataclysmic time when an American-led, British-backed coup d'état brought down the democratically elected Prime Minister. Over the course of several days the four women are brought together against the backdrop of political and social turmoil.
