This directory contains:
- details of organisations with a national remit for work with media educators;
- a listing of experienced media educators able to provide advice and/or training to those new to the field;
- self-run groups organising day events, seminars for local teachers;
- the names of bfi-Linked Film Theatres: Education Officers, for whom film and television education is central to their role;
- film officers based at Regional Arts Boards;
- contact names for the various examination boards offering GCSE or A Level examinations in Film and/or Media Studies and also where to find out more about GNVQs;
- a selection of UK magazines which cover media education issues.

- The names of people who can supply a range of advice and resource services to media teachers in their area.
- Local Teachers' Groups
- Self-run groups organising occasional seminars, day events for media teachers in the local area.
- Cinema/Venue Based Education Contacts
- Their remits vary, but these contacts have film and television education within their roles. They run courses, co-ordinate education programmes for students and teachers and have responsibility for making and maintaining links between schools and colleges, and the cinemas.
- Regional Arts Boards and Development Agencies
- Regional Film Officers now also have a responsibility for education within their remit.
