Where Next for Media Studies?
Presented to the first national GCSE Media Studies Conference, May 2002.
This paper looks at media teaching in the light of Government interest in encouraging teachers' "informed professionalism", which signalled two important policy moves: the Green Paper on 14-19 education (which led to the 2004 Tomlinson Report) and the then forthcoming Communications Bill (which led to the establishment of the new regulator, Ofcom, with a responsibility for "media literacy").
