‘I like to play that role. The rebel. The guy fighting against society. The champion!’ – Kirk Douglas

To mark BFI Southbank’s tribute to the legendary Hollywood star Kirk Douglas we’ve put together a fantastic goody bag.

Contents include:

  • A pass to the BFI Southbank’s Kirk Douglas season this September-October 2016. Not only will we be paying tribute to the legendary actor by screening his finest films but we are hosting a number of incredible talks and events including Kirk Douglas: The Movies, The Muscles, The Dimple where we gather together a group of expert commentators to examine Douglas’ performances and star persona.
  • Plus a copy of The Classics: The Greatest Films of the 20th Century by Alan J Whiticker in association with The Mary Evans Picture Library. The Classics explores the history of many of Hollywood’s greatest films of the 20th Century. Showcasing over 600 photographs of much-loved films, actors and directors, this remarkable book also documents Academy award-winning films through the years. Featuring rare images from Mary Evans Picture Library and Ronald Grant Archive, The Classics is for movie lovers or for anyone who wants to take a walk down memory lane through the rich history of film-making. Kirk Douglas enjoyed a life-long friendship with Burt Lancaster. Such was the chemistry between them that they appeared in seven films together. To enter this competition, name at least five of them and send your answers to filmcompetitions@bfi.org.uk with KIRK in subject header by 25 August.
