Hepburn's last film before retirement was an uncharacteristically tense thriller. She received an Oscar nomination for her role as the innocent blind woman persecuted in her apartment by a gang of drug smugglers. Alan Arkin supplies genuine sadistic menace as Hepburn's tormentor and their scenes together transcend the film's stagebound origins.
