GB, 1940 d Roy Boulting, p John Boulting
The Boulting Brothers' first major production is an evocative warning of how fascism can be initially welcomed by a people exhausted from a period of strife and turmoil. Roy Boulting's direction elicits a memorable performance from Wilfrid Lawson as the Lutheran minister who chooses to follow his God and his conscience, rather than the political fashion of the day. The film is a timeless warning of the dangers of fascism.
