Director Khurshid Anwar's 1962 hit stars tragedy queen Nayyar Sultana. This time around she stars with her real life brother in law Santosh Kumar. Popular actress Neelo had a significant part in the film. The film, which was a social drama, proved to be enormously popular on release with Nabi Ahmed's camerawork coming in for critical praise. The multitalented Khurshid Anwar also provided the music for the film. The film won several Nigar awards including Best Actor for Santosh Kumar, best music for Anwar and best cinematography for Ahmed.
