Ken Loach: Barry Hines' book reads with the fluency of a good film script, and it was in the school in which Barry had taught that we found David Bradley to play the part of Billy Casper. We thought it was axiomatic that we would find someone who would be good to play Billy, but we could not imagine that we would find someone who would touch people in the way that David did.
This is the encounter between Billy Casper and his games master, Mr Sugden, played by Brian Glover who resembles the fair haired, slightly balding Bobby Charlton in this image.
