Ken Loach: This is the second of three films that Paul Laverty and I plan to make in Glasgow, although this is set in Greenock, just down the coast. It's the story of a young boy called Liam his attempts to raise money to get his mother somewhere to live when she comes out of prison. What is always surprising - but reassuring - is that, wherever we decide to film, there are talented people, particularly talented young people who are astonishing in their commitment.
"We are talking about many things all the time and the secret is to find a premise both Ken and I are enthused about. Then there is a long process of discussion and research - if the story came as a simple package that would take the fun out of it"

"I enjoyed every minute of making the film, I really did love it. It was difficult and I was nervous because I have never done anything like this before. I think that is one of the reasons Ken picked me, Paul's script was about growing up in Greenock and I am just a boy from Greenock."
