Costume Design

Most of Olga Lehmann's credited work in film was as a costume designer. A large number of sketches, designs and fabric swatches have now been donated to the bfi.
Lehmann would start designing the costumes in pre-production, researching the period well before the film was cast. The costume fitting with the actor would commence a few weeks before the shoot with final adjustments on set. As Lehmann trained as a fine artist she had the ability to produce high quality sketches as can be seen for her costumes for the Bette Davis film Scapegoat (1958), directed by Robert Hamer and Charles Chaplin's last film Countess from Hong Kong (1966). In 1971 Lehmann designed costumes for Kidnapped starring Michael Caine and Trevor Howard.
