As crooners yielded to the rise of rock n' roll, new shows were created to capture the excitement of the new stars. Initially TV struggled, rarely managing to suggest the potency of the live acts on series like Six-Five Special (BBC). More successful was Oh Boy! (ABC) and the one-off A Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On (Granada). At the same time the measure of pop success changed from sheet-music to record sales and this vinyl revolution was reflected in shows like Off the Record and Juke Box Jury (both BBC) and Cool for Cats (Associated Rediffusion).
