The Sixties

The 1960s saw the explosion of British pop and new shows created to reflect this boom like Associated Rediffusion's Ready, Steady, Go! (1963-66) and ABC's Thank Your Lucky Stars (1961-66) were able to choose from a huge variety of quality local acts to appear alongside visiting American stars. Later in the decade the more articulate or "showbizzy" artists fronted their own shows where, they were allowed to venture (musically) beyond their latest singles; introduce and interact with guest stars; and even try their hands at comedy routines.
