The story of the Ypres salient using actual and reconstructed material. The film opens with a brief historical summary of Ypres and then shows actuality footage of the Germans invading Belgium in October 1914. The various stages and episodes of the battle are shown using combination of actuality and reconstructed footage, ending with the capture of Passchendaele in 1918. The film includes footage of George V, the Duke of Windsor when Prince of Wales, General Haig and Wilhelm, Crown Prince of Germany.
