Film details

Synopsis

Theodora is the apple of her father's eye and is under pressure from her elder sisters to marry well in order to ensure his comfort in old age. While out rowing, she falls in the sea and is rescued by Lord Hector Bracondale, a dashing young man but, according to Theodora's sisters, 'not the marrying kind'. Theodora marries a wealthy older man, unwillingly but for her father's benefit. While travelling in Europe, the couple come across Lord Bracondale again and they fall in love. Theodora refuses to betray her husband and determines never to see Hector again but the intervention of his sister ensures that her husband, Josiah, finds out about their love. He embarks on a dangerous expedition to Africa and deliberately gets himself killed in order to free Theodora to marry Hector.
