Synopsis

Film of two short stories by Joseph Conrad and Stephen Crane respectively, both based on the conflict of strong wills.

1. THE SECRET SHARER - the new Captain of a sailing ship moored in the Bay of Siam finds a swimmer hanging onto the rope ladder on the side of his ship at night. He allows the man to climb aboard, who tells his story. He is the first mate on another ship who has murdered a shipmate who panicked during a bad storm, endangering the ship. The man has escaped from being locked up in a cabin. The Captain is sympathetic and aids him, hiding him in his quarters and when they are underway agreeing to the man's strange request to be able to slip over the side and swim to the nearest shore. The Captain steers the ship as close as possible to land to give the man a better chance.

2. THE BRIDE COMES TO YELLOW SKY - a sheriff with a young bride has to face an old enemy.
