Synopsis

Tired of their bullying stepfather Tobias Cromwell, young Finn and his sister Derval Dove decide to runaway to to their grandmother in Ireland. Cromwell's consternation is increased when he learns that the children are heirs to a fortune, news which also reaches their wicked uncle, Hawk Dove. He learns that if the children die or are not found he stands to inherit the fortune. The children stowaway on a steamer to Ireland, they are pursued by the police but aided by a friendly rabbi and also take part in the St Patrick Day's parade. Hawk Dove, a master of disguise, arrives as an English police inspector to assist the Irish police. The chidlren are nearly caught by Hawk but they escape after a chase. Picked up by a band of tinkers, who look after them only for the reward money, they are rescued by an English journalist, Miss Heather Marblestone, who is in fact Hawk Dove in disguise. Once again the children escape and finally reach the safety of their grandmother. The grandmother gains legal custody of the children. Hawk Dove, repentant at last, evades capture by the police by donning another disguise.
