Synopsis
ROMANCE. The Archive only holds a small fragment of this film. The story of the original film concerned a gypsy dancer, Hassina, who falls in love with a lion tamer, Brazil, and travels to London to find him. Supposedly working at the Crystal Palace, he is not there when Hassina arrives. After fainting through lack of food, Hassina is taken into the home of a wealthy middle-aged bachelor, Alan Brooks, who falls in love with her. When Brooks mistakenly hears news that Brazil is dead he asks Hassina to marry him, which she does. However, Brazil arrives in London, but Hassina realises that he has forgotten her as he is married. She settles down to her life with Brooks.
The Archive holds a small fragment from the beginning of the film, as follows. In Brazil's dressing room, he announces to Hassina that he is going to go to London (99). Dissolve to the two lying in a small woodland clearance, where Brazil promises to send for Hassina one day, but she sees danger when she looks at the palm of his hand (204). Dissolve to Hassina looking at a caravan moving away in the distance (221 feet).
