Synopsis

Lancelot in a duel wins Guinevere for Arthur and vindicates Arthur's sovereignty. Mordred, the king's bastard, attempts to kidnap Guinevere but he is routed by Lancelot who falls in love with her. After her marriage they become lovers. On discovery of this Guinevere is condemned to the stake. She is rescued by Lancelot who gives her up on condition there are no reprisals. Guinevere is then sent to a convent and Lancelot banished. Mordred later murders Arthur. Lancelot returns, defeats Mordred and discovers that Guinevere is about to become a nun.
