Synopsis

Period musical based on the Booth Tarkington stories of `Penrod', about various crises in the Winfield family. The family move to a new house, which Mrs Winfield fears is too large. The daughter's chances of romance with different suitors are hindered and helped by the interference of her little brother, who often gets in trouble at school and who one day tells a lie to his teacher which spreads into a false rumour which brings disgrace to the family. The various trials are seen through, though, as the family look after other.
