Synopsis

Despite the protestations of her husband, Eric, Allison welcomes home her younger sister, Robin, after her divorce in America. Allison has been psychologically blind since an accident before Robin's marriage. Robin deliberately sets out to attract Eric and the presence of Paul, a family friend who wants to marry her, both goads and protects her. Allison, sensing the mounting tension, tries desperately to break through her blindess. On holiday in the country Robin's confidences, the arrival of Eric and Paul and subsequent events achieve this. Gradually she learns to use her eyes and, when Eric and Robin reveal their passion in public, both Paul and Allison walk away, liberated. Based on the novel, Psyche 59 by Francoise des Ligneris
