Synopsis

Anthology film in 4 parts.

(1) "THE FACTS OF LIFE". Henry Garnet allows his son to go to Monte Carlo but warns him against gambling, loaning money and love affairs. The latter completely ignores his advice and comes off the better for it.

(2) "THE ALIEN CORN". To the dismay of his family, George wants to become a professional pianist. His cousin, Paula, defends him, and he goes on to study in Paris. When his talent is tested and he is considered a failure, George commits suicide.

(3) "THE KITE". When Herbert, a kite enthusiast, marries, his wife insists he gives up his unique kite, an act which ends in tragedy for them both.

(4) "THE COLONEL'S LADY". A Colonel, whose unassuming wife has just published a critically-acclaimed book of poetry, tries to find out what the book is all about. A friend tells him it is about an older woman's love for a dead lover. When he confronts his wife, she tells him that the dead young lover was modelled on him.
