Sammy, compere of a strip tease at a Soho Club, is threatened by the henchmen of Conner, a bookie, to whom he owes money. He sets up various shady deals to try to raise the money but part of it is paid by cheque and therefore useless to Sammy. Patsy, a north country girl he met on holiday, tries to help by agreeing to appear in the strip tease act. This Sammy will not allow and he sends her home before turning to meet Conner's men.
