Film details

Synopsis

Disturbed by his wife's death, lawyer Justin Playfair believes himself to be Sherlock Holmes. He catches the interest of his psychiatrist, Dr Mildred Watson, who joins him in a detective quest round New York (a telephone exchange, a cinema, a reading room, an ornamental garden, a supermarket, Central Park) in supposed pursuit of his nemesis, Moriarty. Mildred goes from seeing him as a rare and fascinating patient to seeing him as a rare and dignified man. Meanwhile, Justin's brother is attempting to have him committted in order to inherit the estate.
