Synopsis

A Balkan prince on a night out meets a cab driver and the two discuss the ways of democracy in America and Americans. In the radio studio where the Prince is due to broadcast and address his subjects who are about to vote in a plebiscite, a microphone is switched on air too soon and picks up the impassioned speech the cab driver is making to the Prince advocating a democracy. His speech leads to a republic being set up and the prince is a free man. On travelling on a plane to Milwaukee to take up a job, the ex-Prince finds himself sitting next to his favourite film star Lauren Bacall, although he soon finds himself having to move to make way for Humphrey Bogart.
