In Search of Tolerance (1977)

Film details

Synopsis

Looks at the persecution of the Anabaptists in Europe and the Hugenots in France, and ultimately at the Pilgrim Fathers and the emigrations of religious groups to America looking for somewhere to practice their religion in peace. It considers some of the different colonies set up, including the rigid, Calvanistic ones of the "Pilgrim Fathers", the Quakers, and the Mennonites, or Amish, and how the right of religious freedom and tolerance finally became an established principle.
