Synopsis

Documentary in which Catherine Cookson talks about the experiences in her life which form the background to a number of her hugely popular novels. Employs a combination of film and video techniques to evoke impressions of Catherine Cookson's struggle with an impoverished upbringing amongst the slums of East Jarrow. Also includes a studio interview in which she talks about her life and the experiences which underline her fiction.
