Synopsis

Television play adapted from the novel "Unruhige Nacht" by Albrecht Goes. Set in the Ukraine in 1943 during the German occupation it follows the story of a young soldier, Baranowski, in the German Army who meets and becomes the lover of a widowed Russian woman, is discovered and sent to a Penal Battalion from which he escapes and joins the Partisans. He is subsequently captured and court-martialled for desertion. A pasteur is with him in the hours before his execution.
