Synopsis

Documentary tribute to Charles Laughton, written and presented by Simon Callow. As a child, Simon Callow saw Charles Laughton in THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME and decided he wanted to become an actor. In his tribute to Laughton, Callow, now a successful actor and writer himself, traces Laughton's life from his birth in 1899 in Scarborough, through his London stage success, to screen immortality. Includes interviews with his colleagues Robert Mitchum, Rex Harrison, John Houseman, Peter Ustinov and Sir Peter Hall.
