Synopsis

Melodrama about the romance between a rich medical student and a poor girl. When her father dies in an avalanche, Kitty Lane goes to work as a waitress. She meets college student Dave Livingstone, but his mother, an aging society matron, is displeased with his choice. She feigns a heart ailment and asks him to accompany her on a trip to Europe, he consents but asks Kitty to marry him and join them. Dave's mother attemps to bribe Kitty, then sets up a morals charge against her, she is sent to the State Home for the Regeneration of Females. Six years pass, and Kitty becomes a showgirl and actress. Kitty and Dave meet again, and determine to marry. Dave's mother again tries to talk Kitty out of marriage, this time brandishing a pistol. Kitty takes the gun, Dave arrives, and Kitty pretends she does not want to marry him. His mother is at last won over and consents to the marriage.
