Drawing on archive material from over fifty museums and libraries from around the world, examines the birth of the Statue of Liberty, the history of its construction and the evolution and meaning of the ideal it represents. Follows sculptor Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi's dream of a monument to liberty through its construction in France to its final dedication in New York Harbour in October 1886.
