Synopsis

Special American edition of the Spitting Image programme, based on a sit com about President Reagan and Nancy Reagan.

A new telephone is being installed in the White House. While Ronnie is mowing the carpet, the engineer patiently explains that the dark red phone is the Defcom Command Alert phone to be used only in the event of a nuclear strike, whereas the slightly less dark red phone is for room service. They are indistinguishable. Nancy is preparing a secret surprise party for Ronnie - it is their 210th anniversary. All the guests have been called in early to prepare their impromptu anecdotes - they include Bob Hope, John McEnroe and Tatum O'Neal, and Pavarotti. Meanwhile the presidential aides catch Ronnie being thrashed at chess by his dog, Lucky. The aides give the president the week's nuclear code words - and all the key misiles are named after pizzas.
