After a mild heart attack, Penelope returns to her Cotswolds home. Here she hangs her favourite painting,"The Shell Seekers".Painted by her father, it shows Penelope on a Cornish beach and brings back memories of her younger days. Later, she learns that her father's work has come into great demand, and that the paintings she owns are probably worth a fortune. The prospect of great wealth brings out the selfish characteristics of her children, with whom her relationships are strained
