Film details


A poetic version of the conquering of Mexico by the Spanish conquistador Hernán Cortés. The film centres on the love affair involving the princess La Malinche, who acted as Cortes' interpreter and later became his lover. Their relationship represents the struggle between two cultures (pre-Columbian pagan and European Christian). The film is bilingual and can be followed in Spanish as well as English.
